This summer, Cape Jourimain Nature Centre is celebrating the 150th anniversary of its iconic lighthouse. Recently moved further from shore, the newly-renovated wooden structure is safe again from the threat of erosion.

To guide the thousands of visitors who are expected to tour the lighthouse this year, interpretive panels were added to both the interior and exterior spaces. The season is highlighted by celebratory events and other nature-related activities that are captured in an event card mailed to households throughout southeastern New Brunswick.

It is always a pleasure to work on the “wild side” at Cape Jourimain. The staff and many volunteers are genuinely wonderful to work with. And, it feels good to know our efforts are helping people experience and learn more about the diverse habitats in this vulnerable coastal environment, located in one of my favourite corners of the world.
